Discipleship Coaching: Walking Together in Spiritual Growth

Framing verse: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Matthew 4:19)

When You Don’t Know How to Grow, But You’re Hungry for More

You want to follow Jesus—not just in name, but in practice. You’re reading your Bible, going to church, maybe even in a small group. But something still feels off. You’re spiritually alive—but wondering, Is this all there is?

Discipleship coaching is not about fixing you. It’s about walking with you. It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about helping you ask better questions, stay rooted in Scripture, and grow more deeply into the image of Christ.

What Is Discipleship Coaching, Really?

Let’s be clear—discipleship is not a program. It’s a way of life. Jesus didn’t hand out workbooks. He said, “Come, follow Me.” And then He walked with people. He listened, challenged, encouraged, and reminded them who they were and whose they were.

Discipleship coaching captures that relational, Spirit-filled process. It’s a space to be deeply known, biblically guided, and personally equipped. Not just for new believers—for all of us.

  • Relational, not transactional

  • Customized to your real life

  • Focused on fruit, not formulas

Why Do I Need a Discipleship Coach?

You may not need one. But sometimes God provides someone to walk with you—and it changes everything.

Whether you feel stuck, hungry for more, or weary in leadership, a discipleship coach can meet you there. Not with shallow fixes, but with spiritual rhythms that actually fit your life.

“Follow Me” Means Walking With Someone

Jesus discipled in motion. He invited His followers into the everyday—meals, road trips, storms, and quiet prayers. That’s what coaching echoes. It’s a space to name what’s real, wrestle with the hard stuff, and remember the gospel when everything else feels loud.

In our sessions, we ask:

  • What are you learning about God?

  • Where do you feel stuck?

  • What truth are you forgetting?

And then we pray. We listen. We grow—step by step, together.

It’s Not About “Doing More” — It’s About Becoming More Like Jesus

Many people come into discipleship coaching thinking they need to try harder. But striving isn’t sanctification. Surrender is. Jesus says, “Abide in Me.” (John 15:4)

Coaching helps you build holy rhythms rooted in Scripture, not shame. This may look like:

  • Establishing daily time with God

  • Taking thoughts captive (see Freedom From Anxiety)

  • Letting go of spiritual perfectionism

One Step at a Time, Together

Discipleship coaching isn’t about rushing. It’s about faithfulness. The Spirit leads us step by step, not by overwhelm. If you’re unsure where to begin, we’ll help you figure it out. That’s part of what we do.

Real Growth, Real People

Erica had been leading a Bible study but felt spiritually dry. Coaching helped her rediscover intimacy with Jesus. "I know Him again, not just know about Him," she said.

James struggled with shame around pornography. Coaching offered a path to grace and freedom. "I used to think God tolerated me. Now I know He delights in redeeming me." (See Freedom from Pornography – Men)

You Are Not Meant to Do This Alone

If your heart is stirring right now, that may be the Holy Spirit nudging you. You were not made to walk this path alone. Discipleship coaching won’t fix everything overnight. But it can help you build a rooted, grace-filled life in Christ.
